Recruitment Procedure


Introduction

The passion for railway job drives tremendous interest amongst the candidates and parents. Keeping with the tradition of transparent and effective recruitment system, online examination has been introduced from August 2015.

Recruitment schedule and Notification

Annual recruitment schedule for various category of posts to be recruited is decided by RRCB(Railway Recruitment Control Board). Accordingly, Online applications are invited from Eligible Indian Nationals for various posts of user Railways to the respective RRBs(Railway Recruitment Board) as per the details in the Centralised Employment Notification published in Employment News (English) and RojgarSamachar (Hindi). Further, an Indicative advertisement is also given through popular National and Local dailies for wide circulation.

Online Application

The online application page shall be active from 00.00hrs of the publishing date to 00.00 of the closing date. To start with the Candidate has to register with the RRB for each notification with a valid mobile no and email id and then he/she shall be allotted a registration no. With this registration, candidate can further fill and the application duly following the requisite instructions w.r.t uploading of photo, payment of fees etc. In order to avoid last minute rush,candidates are advised in their own interest to fill in the application well in advance of the closing date of the Notification to avoid possibility of inability/failure on account of heavy load on the internet during last days. RRBs will not be responsible for rejection of applications due to in-complete/incorrect application.

Candidates should be well prepared for submission of online application by reading the instructions carefully w.r.t details of the post (age, qualification, medical standard etc), vacancy, choice of railway, Department etc. Further, they should have a personal Mobile No., Email-id and a scanned copy of candidate's latest colour Passport size photograph in the prescribed size.

After filling the applications carefully duly ensuring the data entered are correct and completed in all respects, candidate can submit the final application to any one RRB only. Applications to more than one RRB will lead to rejection of all the applications. Candidates should ensure that their Name, Father's Name and Date of Birth should exactly match as available in the Matriculation or equivalent certificate. In case of error, candidate can make necessary corrections to the same application before the stipulated date.Candidates are advised to browse their email and see SMS regularly for seeing the update if any on the exam related maters.

Exam Call letter

The Call letters for the successful applicants shall be available on line 15 days prior to the exam date and the same can be downloaded from the RRB website on receipt an advice through SMS/email. In case of any discrepancy, the candidate can approach the help desk for help. Candidate has to show the call letter at the exam venue along with a recent passport photo.

RRB Exam

The RRB Examination shall be a Computer Based Test (CBT). To get familiarised with the CBT, candidates are advised to make use of the Mock test / Sample Test provided in the website of RRBs.

After the CBT, the Provisional Key for each question of various sessionsalong with candidate's answers is published in the website of RRBs for a specified period. Candidates are advised to make use of it and submit their objections within the stipulated date in case they find any discrepancy in the key or questions.

Final Selection

The final selection is purely based on the merit in the CBT exam(Single stage or two stage as per the notified posts)followed verification of the relevant documents of the successful candidates on CBT Exam to confirm their suitability as detailed in the notification.

Stages of RRB Exam

Predominantly the selection of candidates for all the technical posts is based on single stage CBT exam followed by document verification of successful candidates. However, for the following operational and ministerial posts, there shall be a second stage exam/tests as under:

Assistant Loco Pilot / Assistant Station Master : Single Stage CBT followed by Aptitude Test and Document Verification.

Sr.Clerk cum Typist / Jr.Clerk cum Typist, Junior Accounts Assistant / Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Trains Clerk : Single Stage CBT followed by Typing Test and Document Verification.

Translator: Single Stage CBT followed by Translation Test and Document Verification.

Stenographer: Single Stage CBT followed by Skill Test and Document Verification.

Communication of selection

The roll numbers of successful candidates in the CBT exam shall be displayed in the websites of their respective RRBs duly indicating the probable date/Time/Venue for document verification.

After completion of document verification, the list of candidates who are found suitable in all respects as per the documents are allocated the posts as per their merit and choice. The selected candidates are recommended to the concerned Railways/Production units for further processing w.r.t issue of offer of appointment. RRB shall also communicate to the successful candidates about their selection through email and SMS.

NOTE: RRB selects candidates purely as per merit and hence the candidates are advised not to fall into the trap of any touts or job racketeers in connection with appointment in Railways.
